32nd Annual Sunday In June 2008
Organized by the Cleveland Touring Club (CTC)
June 8, 2008

Intro

A Northeast Ohio Bicycle Touring Classic
Routes of: 25, 50, 62 or 100 miles
Century Village – Geauga County Historical Society, Burton OH

Sunday in June (SIJ) is always the 2nd Sunday in June. This year we expect up to 700 riders for the 32nd edition. Plan now to ride with us on this NE Ohio classic through one of the largest Amish settlements in the world. All cyclists are welcome including casual recreational cyclists, road warrior tourists and energetic triathlon competitors. (Note: participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible cycling adult. All riders under 18 years require a signed parental or legal guardian consent / liability waiver)

Start/Finish Location and Route Information

The start, lunch stop and finish are located at Century Village just off the SE corner of the town square in Burton, Ohio. The route options include 25, 50 and 62 mile loops with an optional 38 mile loop for those interested in completing a full century. You will pedal your bike on scenic, lightly traveled roads while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Amish countryside. Don’t forget your camera! A map detailing each of the routes will be provided in your registration packet. Additionally, routes are well marked with arrows painted on the roadway.

Food

Two rest stops will be stocked with refreshments including cold sports drinks, juicy watermelon and world class snacks. On all routes you can count on a rest approximately every 12-20 miles. Your registration fee also includes a hot pasta lunch, served between 11am and 3pm at the start location.

Preparation

You should be in good physical condition for the ride. Participants should have ridden at least 100-200 miles in the 2008 season, more if you are riding a century (100 miles). Please complete the route at your own pace; Sunday in June is a tour, not a race. Your bicycle MUST be in good mechanical condition. Be prepared to perform basic repairs (flat tires, minor adjustments, etc.) on your own. It is recommended you carry basic tools, a spare tube, patch kit, pump and water bottle.

Safety

Helmets are required. A volunteer staff from Lake County Amateur Radio Association will provide communications to help riders who are in trouble. Mechanical support will be provided at the start and rest stop locations by Century Cycles and Mountain Road Cycles. Safety vehicles will “sweep” all routes at 4pm, so if you are riding the 100 mile route please plan to get on the road early.
