The 36th Ride
June 10, 2012

Always the 2nd Sunday in June, this is a tradition in Northeast Ohio and just what you need to launch your season. We expect up to 1000 riders to follow our carefully selected routes through one of the largest Amish settlements in North America.

All cyclists are welcome from casual recreational cyclists to road warriors and from touring cyclists to energetic triathletes.

You will ride through scenic, lightly traveled roads while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Amish countryside. The route distance options are 25, 50, 63, and 100 miles. A map detailing each of the routes will be provided in your registration packet. Additionally, routes are well marked. The start, lunch stop, and finishing point are located at Century Village in Burton, Ohio.

SAG Support

Vehicles will assist fatigued riders or those with mechanical failure. Bicycles must be in good mechanical condition. Be prepared to perform basic repairs on your own, such as flat tires. It is recommended you carry basic tools including
  • a spare tube
  • patch kit
  • pump
  • multiple water bottles

SAG vehicles will do a final "sweep" of all routes between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Plan and pace yourself accordingly.

Preparation

You should be in good physical condition to complete the ride at your own pace. For the 50 miles and longer routes you

should have ridden 100 to 200 miles this season. Your bicycle should be inspected prior to ride day for proper & safe operation or you can learn and conduct a pre-ride safety check before the ride departs.

The ride will be held rain or shine. Please come prepared!
